Odds are against me, from the first note I play

I know I’m dreaming, to think my music will pay

All the walls are up and there seems no way in

Oh to show the world, where I’m from and where I’ve been

 

That’s why I know

That I have to take the chance

To play and let my soul dance

 

You might think I’m foolish, think I’m blindly wasting my time

To dedicate my life, to a dream I may not find

May not end up wealthy and I may not be a star

But as long as I feel right, I can take it oh so far

Someday when we’re older and life has passed us by

I can look back and say “I gave it a try”

If my music reached out and touched you deep inside

That will be enough to know the effort was worth the while
